V.H. Lassen • The V in V.H. Lassen happens to be his name, Vernon . • He was a farmer , and his family owned the land the school is built on . • His family then donated the land to the district in the 1960s , therefore naming the school after him. • The Lassen Family farmed cotton and corn more than any other item.

History of area • Lassen is located at 909 W . Vineyard Phoenix, Arizona 85041 • RSD was established in Phoenix, Arizona in 1912 • The first Roosevelt school was the Broadway school , it was located at the corner of 7th street and Southern Ave.
History of area • There were very few roads in the district’s early days. • Southern Avenue did not exist and students reached the school by walking or on burros
