AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM PHASES: • English, Maths, Science, History • Geography, Languages, The Arts • Health and PE, Design and Technology, Economics/Civics/Business NB: Phase 2 implemented as syllabuses ready, not in bulk.. • Phase 3 is still a “long way off” according to QSA. • Senior 11/12 would appear to be a long way off.

  3. Timelines Australian curriculum is still going ahead! Queensland Education minister Dec 2010 • English, Maths, Science: BEGINS 2012 (K – 10) • History: MUST BEGIN 2013 VERSION 2 OF THE CURRICULUM DUE OCTOBER 2011

Other national ministerial agreements… Ministers endorsed the content of English, Maths, Science, History syllabi on 8 December 2010 WITH THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS… • A national common approach to achievement standards to be developed • Additional material to support effective implementation to be developed • Refining and adjusting curriculum content if necessary (v2.0) • Finalising an overarching framework - what does a curriculum look like at the school? Time allocations will be advised - ED QLD WILL ADVISE TERM 3 • Work on special needs curriculum continues - 4 levels below foundation continues

  5. RESPONSIBILITY • SHARED RESPONSIBILITY • ACARA/QSA/SCHOOLS • ACARAIS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTENT AND ACHIEVEMENT STANDARDS • QSA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING (WE WILL NEED TO USE NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT STANDARDS: A-E?) • SCHOOLS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PROGRAMS…

  7. PLANNING – A WHOLE SCHOOL APPROACH SEMESTER 2 TEMPLATES MUST BE CONSIDERED AND USED FOR ALL DEPARTMENT AREAS: • WORK PROGRAMS - BY THE END OF TERM 3 • UNIT PLAN - BY THE END OF TERM 4 • CONSISTENT TASK SHEETS – WHAT NEEDS TO BE IN HERE - DURING TERM 4…. VERSION 2.0 CURRICULUM (USE AS A GUIDE)

  8. WORK PROGRAMS The expectation would be that all work programs for years 8 – 10 be rewritten by the end of term 3: A guide…..

  10. TASK SHEETS • At the end of term 2 I want to finalise what an IPC Task Sheet should look like • Next week: Please bring your inclusions/EXEMPLAR, be ready to discuss!

  11. MY RESPONSIBILITY • My responsibility during this process would be to oversee the process to ensure it fits with our: College Curriculum Plan I will be preparing the following template as a guide to the overview.
