Quick Facts • What is the Christopher Award? It is an award presented to books that have affirmed the highest value in human spirit. • What does “highest value in human spirit” mean? It means that the book has a message that inspires people in positive ways, such as showing courage, passing on tradition, or reconnecting with family values. • Is it only for children’s books? No, there are various categories based on age, such as preschool, ages 6-8, ages 8-10, ages 10-12, and young adult. Also, films and television shows can also win the award. • Who created the Christopher Award? It was created by Father James Keller, who founded The Christophers organization in 1945. • How are winners selected? People can nominate books and winners are selected by a panel of judges. • Where can I nominate a book? You can go online to www.christophers.org and submit the book.
