Interactive Reading Workshop: Explore World Figures and International Connections

This class covers diverse activities such as silent reading, journal entries, word study, and daily lessons focused on reading skills. Students will work on two IB units - the Hall of Fame project and the Heritage Project, which involve campaigning for a world figure and researching a foreign country. Through studying various genres like fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama, students will enhance their reading abilities.

  1. What we cover in this class • Day to day, our activities will vary. Students will have silent reading time, journal entries, word study and daily mini-lessons/assignments focused on reading skills. There will be two IB units – Hall of Fame where students choose a world figure and campaign for them, and the Heritage Project, where students research a foreign country with which they have a connection. We will study a variety of fiction and nonfiction genres, as well as poetry and drama.
