Scholarships Aerodynamics MSC 2008-2009 International taught Postgraduate Students (entry 2008/09) Any International student who obtains a degree qualification equivalent to a UK first class or Upper Second Honours degree and takes up a place on one of our MSc degree programmes will automatically receive a scholarship of £1500. UK/EU taught Postgraduate students (entry 2008/09) The School of Engineering Sciences is offering a number of scholarships of £1000, to the best academically qualified full-time UK/EU students for each of our postgraduate taught programmes. Any student who obtains a first class (or equivalent) degree qualification and takes up a place on one of our MSc degree programmes will automatically be awarded a scholarship. Scholarship awards will be made in mid-December 2008.
High Performance Computers - Mark Johnston (M.Johnston@soton.ac.uk) - (SES ISS liaison officer) Aerodynamics MSC 2008-2009 • Here are the details of the Linux cluster available to UG and PGTs. Itshould be available for pilot from November, and if you are interesting in the pilot service, • please contact Ivan Wolton (icw@soton.ac.uk). The production system should be available • for everyone by Semester 2. • It consists of a head node with 4 quad-core 2.3GHz opteron processors and • 32GB memory and 16 compute nodes. • The compute nodes are half the size (i.e. 2 quad-core 2.3GHz • opteronprocessors with 16GB memory). • It is anticipated to provide up to 1.3TFlops, but Ivan was keen to lay down • a challenge for anyone to achieve that.
