  3. What are government publications? • Information that is published by or for a government agency • Containing information that should be available to the public.

The Government Printing Office (GPO) and the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) • The Government Printing Office (GPO) provides Government information at no cost to designated depository libraries throughout the country. • The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to its Government's information.

  5. Available in many formats, government publications are a useful, and sometimes necessary, part of daily living… • Traveling • Going to college • Getting a job • Running a business • Paying Taxes
