  1. Opportunities for VCSE on working in partnership to deliver effective employment and skills provision in London #Employopps4london Jonathan Slater – Employment and Skills Policy & Project Manager at London Voluntary Service Council.

  2. What does LVSC do • The collaborative leader of London’s voluntary and community sector. We support London’s 120,000 voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to improve the lives of Londoners. • Our aim is to: • To be a central resource for knowledge and policy for the London voluntary and community sector. • To act as a collaborative leader for London's voluntary and community sector. • To enable the voluntary and community sector to best deliver for Londoners.

  3. My role • To have strategic influence on the development of employment and skills policy in London in the interest of disadvantaged Londoners and the voluntary and community sector. • To maintain and grow LVSC’s employment and skills provider network. • To support VCS providers to respond to changes in the commissioning, funding, and policy landscape in London. • To manage LVSC’s European Social Fund (ESF). • To proactively seek opportunities and resource to further support London VCS employment and skills providers to provide the best services for Londoners.

  4. Opportunities available – ESF Phase 2 • European Social Fund ‘Phase 2’ 2014 – 2020 for London • The Mayor’s 2014-2020 ESF allocation is worth £422 million. • Expected that there will be a remaining allocation of around £170 million to invest in a further round of programmes. • Once committed, any ‘phase 2’ programmes could in theory run until 2023.

  5. Opportunities available – ESF Phase 2 • Given the size of the London programme and the lack of significant local match funding, London is likely to continue relying on match funding provided by national Co-Financing Organisation (CFOs) if it is to commit its remaining ESF allocation. • GLA European Project Management Unit are working with a stakeholder group comprising GLA teams, London Councils, the CFOs, the Association of Colleges, and LVSC about what a possible ESF ‘Phase 2’ might look like in practice. https://www.london.gov.uk/moderngovmb/documents/s58925/11%20ESF%20Phase%202%20update.pdf
