Family Engagement SpecialistClaudia Quiroga Help parents to navigate PAUSD by providing regular communication with parents to inform them about school and district events and opportunities. Also, to assist parents to develop a greater understanding of educational practice, policies and procedures. Hours: Monday from 8:00 to 4:00pm and Wednesday from 8:00am to 10:30am and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. What is ELAC? *ELAC = English Learner Advisory Committee *Who can be a member of ELAC?—any parent of an English Learner student *What are the responsibilities of an ELAC member? - Advise principal and staff on the school’s program for English language learners. - Advise the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement. - Bring about positive change!

CELDT vs. ELPAC 2017-2018 school year ELPAC summative Given to all students identified as English Language Learners Administered between January and May Monitors student’s progress in English Proficiency CELDT • Given only to new students enrolled in California schools for the first time • Administered within 30 days of enrollment • Determines initial English Proficiency Level

Student Support • CELDT 1s and 2s will receive a primary language tutor for up to 28 hours. The six primary languages are: Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. • CELDT 3s and 4s will receive small group support in their classrooms. • Monitoring progress throughout the year using the ELPAC, ADEPT, District Assessments and teacher feedback.

RFEP Redesignated Fluent English Proficient - Students in 2nd grade - 5th grade - Scored early advanced or advanced on the CELDT or Bridging on ELPAC - Performing on grade level in reading, writing, and math -EL Specialist, parent, principal, and teacher agreement - CAASPP score of nearly met or met standard
