update on geant4 – test beam data comparison for pions and protons C. Alexa, S. Constantinescu, S. Diţă, IFIN, Bucharest • 2002 test-beam data • ATHENA 11.0.1 and 11.0.5 with GEANT 4.7.1 andQGSP_GN • GEANT 4.5.2 with LHEP 3.6, QGSP 2.3 and QGSP2.7
changes in athena11.0.5: • use of Fit Filter method not only for real data but also for Geant4 data with exactly the same pulse shapes, cuts, parameters etc. (while before we were not doing this for simulated data) • extra noise in PMT due to photoelectron statistics it is switched on by default for test-beam simulation and cosmic muons simulation, but not yet for ATLAS default simulation

conclusions: • energy resolution: G4.7.1 and QGSP_GN -> better description of the test-beam data • fit filter method in athena11.0.5 -> worse energy resolution • QGSP_GN -> worse linearity, e/π, e/p and π/p • further analysis: • CTB • leakage corrections • shower shape, etc.
