  1. A Complete Guide on Buying Baby Feeding Spoons and Dishware For new born babies, feeding liquid-based foods and milk makes sense, for they do not have teeth yet to chew on solid foods. That however changes as they reach the age of a toddler, when it becomes essential to feed them solid foods. That also means buying baby feeding spoons and bowls to be able to feed them. Many parents get confused on the specifics such as what to buy, how much to buy and so on. Today, we aim to assist such parents in buying dishware for their babies.

  2. The first thing to buy are bowls. Babies tend to spread food here and there, making eating a very messy affair. In such cases, bowls are much more efficient than large plates in containing the food while providing a deep enough profile for scooping out a mouthful of food easily without any effort. Using a bowl also helps parents train their toddlers to try eating on their own, which is not possible using a flat plate.

  3. It is also important to note that such bowls need to be unbreakable and lightweight, so that they do not cause any accidental injury. Porcelain and glass bowls are a strict no, for they are highly brittle and can break easily on the slightest drop onto the floor. Light, toxin-free plastic should be the preferred choice of bowls, for they are usually unbreakable and lightweight enough for babies to use without any issues. The next thing to buy are spoons. They differ from regular spoons in terms of size, weight and material. Baby feeding spoons come in many shapes, varieties, designs and colors, all catered to suit the style of feeding toddlers. Baby feeding spoons usually have gripped sides for stronger hold with the slightest of effort, perfect for tiny baby hands. The scoop designs also vary, but almost all of them are shallow enough to hold a mouthful amount of food. Before we conclude, we would like to raise the issue of safety awareness. It is of utmost important that the plastic used in making baby feeding spoons and bowls are FDA approved and safe from toxic mixtures and harmful chemicals such as BPA and BPS, both of which are constituents of hard plastic. Another thing to look for is if they are biodegradable, so that they don’t harm the environment when disposed of. Most manufacturers usually mention these details in the brochure or on their website.
