  2. Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release There is two way to upgrade and install an update to your newest QuickBooks Desktop. You can either use: • Manual upgrade mode • Automatic upgrade mode Note: Please do not confuse while upgrading to the newest release version(Example: From QuickBooks 2017 R3P to R5P) with Upgrading to a new Version(Example: From QuickBooks Desktop 2017 to QuickBooks Desktop 2018)

  3. Find out if you having latest version patch for your QuickBooks: • With QuickBooks open, press the F2 key (or, or else, Ctrl + 1) on your keyboard. • In the Product data Window, check this version and Released.

  4. Manual update: Option 1: Download From the Internet Download links from US QuickBooks: • Go to the Update to the Latest Release web page. • Make sure your product is selected. If not, click the Change link and select your QuickBooks product. • Click Update. • Select to Save the update file to your desktop. • When the download completes, double-click to install file. You may need to restart Windows after the installation is complete. • You can install manual updates across your network either by: • Accessing the install file on your computer from another computer. • Copying the install file to a flash drive and then to the desktop of another computer.

  5. Option 2: From within QuickBooks Desktop: In file menu click close company/Log off. (If you open multiple company files in quickbook desktop, you have to follow these step for every open company). • Click file and exit. • Right click on QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop and run as administrator. (Make sure you are in No Company Open Screen). • In Help Menu, choose update quickbooks - click options - check all the marks and save. • Click update now. (Click on reset update then click get update button).

  6. Automatic update: • In QuickBooks help menu, click update quickbooks. • In update quickbooks window go to update now. • Check on Reset Update to erase previous update downloads. (This would increase the amount of your time required for the update). • Click Get Updates and then restart Quickbooks for update. • When restarting Quickbooks, accept option to install new release.

  7. Please Note: • When the Update Complete message seems, shut QuickBooks Desktop. • Open QuickBooks Desktop. If you get the message to put in the update, click Yes. • When the installation is complete, restart your PC. • Note: If you have got a Payroll subscription, download the newest payroll tax table, US or Canada, to method payroll in QuickBooks Desktop. Your Payroll subscription should be active. Currently, latest release of product is QuickBooks Desktop 2018
