Every Nominee is a Winner! • Your State Nominee will receive an Award • A Director will come to your State for presentation if available • A National winner will be chosen for an award to be presented at an appropriate time and place
Criteria for Camarena Award • Must be an individual – not an organization • May be a Team within an organization • Must be a Law Enforcement professional • Must be a positive role model committed to a healthy lifestyle • Must have made an outstanding contribution in the field of drug awareness/prevention
Criteria Continued • Must have gone beyond the normal responsibilities of their position • Must have the support of their superiors • If selected, must attend the awards ceremony announced by the Elks DAP Directors
Nomination Guidelines • Nominations must be accompanied by the Official Elks Nomination Form • Nomination should be in narrative form and include the following: • How the Nominee’s commitment has helped youth • Specific Achievements & Awards
Guidelines Continued • Specific programs, publications, community activities etc. that the nominee has participated in – especially those that motivate & encourage citizens to take an active part in drug education & prevention • Leadership and organizational abilities of the Nominee • Time and effort contributed “Beyond the Call of Duty”
