  1. Intro to branding & marketing

  2. What is a brand? • Name given to a product of service from a specific source; a brand name • More to products & services than their names • What your customer thinks and feels when he or she hears your brand name

  3. Your brand name exists objectively; people can see it.  It’s fixed.  But your brand exists only in someone’s mind.

  4. What is marketing? • Actively promoting a product or service • “Buy our product because it is better than theirs” • Branding should underlie any marketing effort

  5. The brand does not explicitly say “buy me”. Instead, it says “This is what I am. This is why I exist. If you agree, if you like me, you can buy me, support me, and recommend me to your friends.

  6. Marketing unearths and activates buyers. Branding makes loyal customers, advocates, even evangelists out of those who buy.

  7. So??? I’m a teacher… How does this relate to me?

  8. Brand ambassadors • You exhibit and personify our core values • You are on the front lines and are the reason why we are here! • You are leaders • You have the ability to build relationships • You help tell our story

  9. Word of mouth marketing • When our customers are happy, they tell a friend! • http://youtu.be/mcskckuosxQ

  10. Branding and social media

  11. The good, the bad & the ugly • Social Media can be a double-edged sword • We love positive, thoughtful contributions to the Trinity Facebook page, twitter account and blogs! • Please be mindful of content posted on your own Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts – parents will search for your page • Do not accept friend requests from students and from parents only if you are already friends

  12. We need your help! • Trinity Episcopal School • Where the story is yours.
