Equality in accessing healthcare is the central principle in the delivery of care within the NHS • ‘Death by indifference’ and ‘Six Lives’ • Partnership working with the Community Learning Disability Team • Action plan and cross partnership steering group • Acute Liaison Nurse service
Where are we now six months on? • Self Assessment CQC • Surrey Borders- Liaison nurse • Set up the Learning Disabilities Group • Patient Passport • Learning Disability Protocol • Flag patients who have a learning disability on PAS • Service user present at the Pride in Nursing event
Aim is to further : • Raise awareness and train all staff • Proactive approach to the Learning Disability Awareness event • Patient and staff information and resource file • User representation at meetings etc • Attend user meetings • Review themes from complaints and incidents
