Martes el 21 de febrero WALT: To recap school subjects and opinions, and to read texts in Spanish WILF: To be able to identify key words to help you understand details when you are reading Spanish texts (work towards C grade) STARTER ACTIVITY: Lee lo que dice Martín. (Read what Martín says)¿Verdad o mentira? (True or false?) Put a tick for true, or a cross for false, in your book a) Me gusta la geografía.b) No me gustan mucho las matemáticas.c) Prefiero el francés.d) Odio las ciencias.e) Me encantan todos los idiomas.

REMEMBER your WILF: To be able to identify key words to help you understand when you are reading Spanish texts (work towards grade C) • Lee los cuatrotextos • >>> Read the four texts 2) Copia y rellena el cuadro >>> Copy the table at the bottom of the page into your book, and complete it with the information you have just read, follow the example given... e.g. 2 ticks under ICT because Alba says ‘me gusta mucho la infomática’ You can replace the pictures with the Spanish words for the subjects

  3. How well did you do? Compare your answers with the person sitting next to you – do you both agree? Discuss any answers you do not agree on. Go to the next slide to find the answers in order to mark your own work and assess your reading level in Spanish

  4. What score have you achieved in reading today? Add up your correct answers and look at what level you have reached in reading 0-5 = need to revise 5-9 =need some work 9-12= not bad 12-15= good 15-17= very good 18 = excellent! • Record your score in your book. • ALSO • Write down what you understood really well (e.g. positive opinions / linking words) • Write down what you may still need to practice in order to improve

Escribir / Writing • On your laptops….Write your own paragraph. • Include the following things: • What school subjects you like and why • What school subjects you dislike and why • Some linking words y = and Pero = but También = also Porque = because In order to achieve a D+ you must: Check spellings Use accents – ask if you are unsure! Re-read your notes on agreement (singular / plural words) Write as much as you can! Use the texts you have seen this lesson and the notes in your exercise books to help you!

  8. Practice your pronunciation by reading the Spanish out loud to the person next to you. Mi instituto tiene… My school has Mi instituto no tiene… My school doesn’t have En mi instituto hay…In my school there is En mi instituto no hay… In my school there isn’t Copy this vocabulary into your books Now write 5 sentences about what your school does and does not have

  10. ¿Tegustatuinstituto? ¿Porqué? Do you like your school? Why? Use the opinion phrases you saw last week to give an opinion about your school. ‘An opinion’ + ‘mi instituto’ + ‘porque es’ + ‘a reason’ Here are some reasons why you may like / dislike your school: Copy this into your book Copy this into your book Use this information to write 3 sentences in your book, expressing opinions about your school

  11. TASK: Write a paragraph in SPANISH describing your school. Use the vocab you’ve seen in class. TO WORK towards C grade! REMEMBER: REMEMBER: use full sentences include justified opinions Include negatives Use connectives Check your spellings Use ‘un/una/unos/unas’

  12. Extension WALT: To describe your school WILF: To describe your school, giving information on uniform, the building and what facilities it has ( C grade) Match the phrases to the pictures – make a note of them in your book

  13. Copy these phrases & translate them into English in your book 1. I study in a boys school. There is uniform. 3. I study in a girls school. There is uniform. 2. I study in a mixed school. There is no uniform.

  14. Copy the paragraph into your books and replace the pictures with the words below EXTRA: match the questions to the answers and translate them

You should decide how you want to complete the task: • copy the paragraph from the last slide, changing the details according to your school • use your notes to write a paragraph, looking at the previous slide for ideas, include link words and an opinion • write a paragraph using words & phrases you have learnt, include different link words and both positive & negative opinions with reasons Today’s task: You can OR Use the information on the previous slide to help you write a paragraph about your own school.
