  4. About Me This is my first year teaching at Lakeway and I'm super excited to meet my first group of Smith's Sharks! I've been teaching in some capacity for 15 years, including 10 as a corporate trainer, and the past 5 as a substitute teacher in elementary and middle schools. I'm married to Derrol and I have three kids. My son, Austin, is a 6th grader at HBMS and my twin girls, Savannah and Berkeley, are 3rd graders here at Lakeway. We also have two cats, Gandy and Pippin. My favorite things to do are having adventures with my family, trying new restaurants, traveling, volunteering, and researching new ideas for my classroom.

  10. Homework Every Friday your child will get a reading and math packet. The reading packet will help with comprehension and can be used to practice fluency at home. The math packet will usually be a couple page review of this week’s concepts. These packets will be due the following Thursday, but may be turned in at any time before then. Please take a few minutes each week to look over the homework with your child. It is important that they know that you are interested in seeing what they are learning. The best way to encourage responsibility and accountability in school work is to hear it at home AND school. In addition to our paper homework, we have several online resources that are available to our students. We ask that students complete 1 RAZ Kids story a week. This can take the place of reading one night.

  11. S.T.A.R. Binders Binders need to come to school EVERY day. This year we are working on building student responsibility. These binders take the place of communication folders. Please refer to your child’s planner for upcoming events and tests. Please do not take anything out of the binder. Several of the pages you may use at home to study, we also use here at school.
