ESEA flexibility • Given: • Students with disabilities are a vital part of the school population of learners – general education students FIRST • Students with disabilities are part of Michigan’s Education Accountability System • Students with disabilities have varied needs that are addressed through individualized programs and assessed through appropriate measures in line with the state assessment • Schools that are Shared Educational Entities (SEEs) are currently exempt from being designated in the state’s ranking system
ESEA flexibility • Discussion Topic • Currently, the state’s ranking system is based solely on state assessment results. What other student performance measures that the state currently collects, could be considered primarily for the MI-Access Supported Independence and Participation level students?
