  1. How to find the Area of the triangle By Isabel Gonzalez

  2. First lets take a look at the right triangle

  3. A right triangle has one angle that is 90 degrees 90 degree angle

  4. Each side of the triangle has its own name Hypotenuse Leg A We call this one c Leg B

  5. So here is what our right triangle looks like with labels c A B

  6. Now, In order to find the area of a right triangle we need to use the Pythagorean Theorem This is what it looks like A + B 2 = C 2 2

  7. Lets take a look at the Pythagorean theorem with our triangle C A B 2 2 2 A B = C +

  8. Now its time for a sample problem Lets say A is 3 And B is 4 C 3 4 3 2 4 2 = 2 C • +

  9. Time to solve the problem 3 2 + 4 2 = C 2 x x 4 4 3 3 + 16 9 C 2 = 25

  10. Now we need to find the square root to finish the problem We know that 2 25 = C Next we take the square root of both sides = 25 C 2 (5 * 5) = 5 C

  11. We have now found the area of the right triangle C = 5 3 4 Because … 2 + 2 2 3 4 = 5
