  3. INKHEART Bookworm Doors Light and Dark Side

  4. Intro Inkheart is an enchanting story about a girl, her father, and one very evil antagonist. Meggie and her father are on a quest to obtain the book Inkheart while many obstacles and characters meet them. Capricorn has locked Meggie up and now Mo must save her before it is too late. Can he do it? Will Dustfinger and Resa survive!? To find out you’ll have to read the book.

  5. Mortimer(Mo) Mo is in his thirties or forties and has a love for books. He also has the power to read things out of books. This became a bad thing when he accidently read his wife into Inkheart and read the characters Dustfinger, Basta, and Capricorn out of the book. Now, Mo must save his daughter, Meggie, from Capricorn’s clutches. Can he do it?

  6. Meggie Meggie is a twelve year old girl who embarks on an adventure with her dad, Mortimer. She has long blond hair and loves reading books and stories, like her father does. Meggie finds out that her mom mysteriously disappeared one night when her dad read the book Inkheart aloud to her. She soon finds her mom and figures out that she has the same magical power as her dad, she can read things out of books.

  7. Elinor Elinor is in her forties or fifties and is known for collecting books. She has a huge library in her house. The only thing in her life that is important to her is books. Elinor is Meggie’s great-aunt and she despises her worst enemy, fire. It is her worst enemy because fire destroys books. When Elinor finally decides to go to the police she thinks that she is so smart, until the policeman ends up being on Capricorn’s team. Then Elinor gets busted.

  8. Basta Basta is Capricorn’s right hand man and he joined Capricorn’s team when he was very young. Basta is very superstitcious, and that is his one true weakness. Almost everyone in the book teases him about it. When he accidently let things get out of hand he finds himself locked in the crypt waiting for the execution.

  9. Dustfinger Dustfinger is a character from the original book Inkheart. He is a fire breather and he owns a pet marten(only his has horns). Ever since Dustfinger was read out of the book by Mo he has wanted to go back into the book. Dustfinger is pulled when he decides if he should continue to help Capricorn, or if he should help Meggie and Mo. Overall he is a fascinating character and is fun to read about.

  10. Capricorn Capricorn. Evil, terrible, malicious, devil. Those four words explain Capricorn perfectly. Capricorn is the main antagonist in the book Inkheart. He kills people, threatens people, and burns people’s houses to the ground. You can’t get much more evil than that. Now that he is going to have Meggie read the Shadow out of the book, he will become even more destructive.

  11. Bookworm In the book Inkheart the bookworm is a pretty important symbol. First of all, a bookworm is a worm that eats the bindings of books. Elinor, being a book collector, has many “bookworms.” One main bookworm is fire. Later in the book when Elinor gets back home she found all her books in the library burned and the rest trampled on. I think that the books trampled on represent her other bookworm, children.

  12. Doors In Inkheart doors are a symbol. If you think about it books are just closed doors waiting to be opened. Once you open them, a whole new world practically comes to life. Books also give you the opportunity to have a good imagination once you open their doors and read.

  13. The Light and Dark Side While in the car to Capricorn’s Village, Meggie was looking out the window and was murmuring how beautiful all the houses looked. Dustfinger than remarked that she was only looking to the left or light side of it. Meggie then looked to the right or dark side and saw that it was all filthy and dark. This shows that there is a light and a dark side to everything even the Shadow.

  14. Polls What do you think about the book Inkheart? Katie - “I love it. I like it so much I’m reading Inkspell.” Zach - “I liked it and I believe it will be better than the movie.” Natalie - “I liked how it was all mysterious.” Chris - “I liked how there was action and it wasn’t boring.”
