Why Manage Time? What are the benefits? • Relieves stress. • Helps be more efficient. • Have more control over your life. • Effective in assisting with achieving goals. • Helps you become aware of how you use your time.
How do you spend your time each day of the week? • Classes • Studying • Sleeping • Exercise • Work/Internship • Family • Travel time • Socializing • Cleaning • Meals • Relaxing • Television/gaming
Keep Balanced • Sleep is important! • Personal wellness (eating well, taking vitamins, and exercising). • Have values, personal goals, and a mission. • Delegate blocks of times for each activity.
Have a Plan that Works for You! • Use “to-do lists” • Prioritize • Have project lists (work tasks, school tasks, golden key tasks).
How to Study • Develop a plan for blocks of study time each day of the week. - 30 to 50 minutes • Study when you are most engaged. - At night - In the morning - In the afternoon between activities.
Dedicated Study Spaces • A place free from distractions. • Only answer important calls or emails. • Stay away from social networking (Facebook). • Study at dedicated study areas - Library - All Knight Study - Coffee Shop where you are anonymous
Prioritize Your Schedule • Do difficult of boring tasks first. • Get ready the night before. • Use reminders. • Get help or assistance. • Be careful with multi-tasking. • Stay organize. • Do it now! • Postpone unimportant tasks.
How to Maintain your Schedule • Stick to a routine. • Put in fixed blocks of time first (classes, meetings, work). • Break big projects into specific steps with deadlines. • Avoid marathon homework/study sessions. • Plan for the unplanned. • Plan enough time. • Set realistic goals.
