Idea • Real-time strategy game, based off the Parker Brother’s board game RISK • Micro-management of armies • Income based model • Strategic flanking maneuvers, unit allocation, combat stances, etc.. • Considering Commando/King model as well…
Loosely based off theWarcraftIII Custom Map RiskDevo • Similar unit management scheme • Same camera control system • HUD/Minimap will also be a solid basis for our game interface.
Design Complications • We’ve already got a decent chunk of gameplay ready, but we’ll save that for the next timebox. • Most difficult challenge will be the AI programming; allowing dynamic control schemes for all races and spawn locations, all dependent on the human player. • Everything else is cake to implement.
Technical Aspects • Ogre3D based, using an extension of the BaseApplication framework, while also implementing the GameStateManagerfor timebox#1. • Multiple race and unit options, and AI opponents; all built around extendable race/unit classes. • Several modes of gameplay, all also built around a single class structure.
CRY FOR HELP! • Manifest Destiny Races: Human, Orc, Undead, Robot, Elves We found a way to convert static .M2(WoW/WCIII) files to .mesh; But if any groups come across cool, animated fantasy models, we’d love a heads up!
