  2. The skipper is characterized as the bad boy. He gets into fights, he steals wine and he drinks too much. But despite his delinquent nature, he is very good at his job. He can navigate a ship and bring a ship into any harbor with the best of them. The shipman is one of the best-travelled pilgrims, since he’s been all over Britain and Spain as part of his job.

  3. :Indirect Characterization He likes wine. He is a thief . He is known for stealing from the captain of his ship If he gets into a fight, he is known for finishing it.

  4. Direct Characterization: He is an excellent shipman. . He is good at calculating the tides. . He can navigate the ship using the stars. . He can bring a ship safely into the harbor with the best of them. Tanned skin Wore a leather gown that reached his knee with a dagger hanging on a lanyard that hung from his neck under that went under his arm and down.
