  2. ¿Qué es? • El término Chernozem deriva de los vocablos rusos "chern" que significa negro y "zemlja" que significa tierra, haciendo alusión al color negro de su horizonte superficial, debido al alto contenido en materia orgánica.

  3. Se asocian a regiones con un clima continental con inviernos fríos y veranos cálidos. El relieve es llano o suavemente ondulado y la vegetación herbácea de tipo estepa, si bien en los márgenes norte pueden aparecer bosques. Localización

  4. Perfil del suelo El material original lo constituyen depósitos eólicos de tipo loess. El perfil es de tipo AhBC con un horizonte superficial negro o pardo muy oscuro. El horizonte B puede ser de tipo Cámbico o Árgico; los carbonatos se redistribuyen formando un horizonte Cálcico o bolsadas de carbonatos secundarios.

  5. Su elevada fertilidad natural y su favorable topografía los hace unos excelentes suelos de cultivo, que en veranos muy secos pueden necesitar de riego; también pueden utilizarse para pastos. Fertilidad
