Dr Roman RolkeDepartment of Palliative Medicine RheinischeFriedrich-Wilhelms-University, Bonn, Germany Roman Rolke is the Assistant Medical Director of the Palliative Medicine Department at the University Hospital of Bonn. DrRolke’s research interests include the pathophysiology and therapy of neuropathic pain states. He has been involved in the development of the QST protocol of the German Research Network on Neuropathic Pain (DFNS). He has participated in several studies about neuropathic pain, back pain and cancer pain within a local network of collaborating institutions of the University of Mainz in the context of neuroscience and pain research in palliative care. DrRolke is the author of several internationally recognised studies published in high ranking journals. In 2007 he won the German Pain Award for his work on clinical pain research of the German IASP chapter, the most recognised award in the field of pain research. He is a reviewer of several journals including Pain, Neurology, Journal of Pain, Movement Disorder and the European Journal of Pain where he has served as an editorial board member for many years.
