DEPARTMENT FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL INSURANCE New system of assessing disability and functioning in Cyprus in line with ICF • Operates under the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities • Total Cost: € 6, 3 million • Co-financed by the European Social Fund (70% by the EU Social Fund, 30% by national recourses)

DEPARTMENT FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL INSURANCE • Vision and Objectives: • Main Aim: Establish a scientific, reliable and credible data basis for the assessment of disability and functioning, commonly accepted and used by state services • Objectives: • Minimizing the efforts of disabled people to follow multiple bureaucratic procedures in order to fulfil their rights • Save time

DEPARTMENT FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL INSURANCE • Objectives: • Establishment of an Assessment Centre aiming to become a one stop shop for the disabled people • Cost – Effective • Establish a National Disability Record • To provide credible and reliable comprehensive reports on disability & functioning through professional and modern assessment procedures • Train doctors and other health professionals to use ICF

DEPARTMENT FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL INSURANCE • The Project: • within the framework of the Operational Programme “Employment, Human Capital and Social Cohesion” 2007-2013 • Ongoing • 19 – 20 of July 2012 the first phase of the training was held concerning the usefulness of the ICF • By the end of the assessment, a person will know and have a report: not only on special needs for care, technical equipment, facilities, support but also on capabilities and new prospects for training, employment and inclusion.
