Challenges: Combining mining with conservation Minimizing impact of major mining development Increasing primary forest protection – (partial) compensation for logging rights Avoiding fragmentation of TRIDOM Improved application of laws Management agencies adapted to managing landscape (segments) Corridors (intra landscape and interlandscape) Averting / redirecting large scale forest transformation for palm oil

  6. USFWS LUP guide • Current STRATEGY DOCUMENT: Workplan 36 pages! • Simplify ! Focus ! Prioritize! • Learning from last previous phase and building the desired conditions • Less data collection / more work with landscape stakeholders and Government • Working with Government and Private Sector to be able to influence some mega developments
