  3. What is Carboplatin? Is a chemotherapy drug used against some forms of cancer (mainly ovarian carcinoma, lung, head and neck cancers as well as endometrial, esophageal, bladder, breast and cervical; central nervous system or germ cell tumors; osteogenic sarcoma, and as preparation for a stem cell or bone marrow transplant). www. labdhipharma.com

Dosage and administration NOTE: Aluminum reacts with carboplatin causing precipitate formation and loss of potency, therefore, needles or intravenous sets containing aluminum parts that may come in contact with the drug must not be used for the preparation or administration of Carboplatin. www. labdhipharma.com

Indications and usage:  For the treatment of advanced ovarian carcinoma of epithelial origin The recommended dosage for previously untreated adults (normal renal function) is 400mg/m² as a single intravenous infusion over 15-60 minutes. Therapy should not be repeated again until four weeks have elapsed. In patients with risk factors such as previous myelosuppressive therapy or in the aged, the initial dosage may need to be reduced to 20-25%. Determination of the haematological nadir by weekly blood counts is recommended for adjusting future doses and scheduling of carboplatin. www. labdhipharma.com
