ASSIGNMENT NO 1: • Objective of the Assignment. • To make a critical analysis that how much theory and the practical relate to each other. • Instructions for the Assignment: • First of all make the groups for attempting the assignment. • CR is responsible to make different groups. • Each group must have 6 students at least. • There would be a Leader in the group who will arrange all the tasks among the group • Each group member must participate in assignment. • No excuses will be tolerated.

Assignment No 1 Information related to the visit: • You have to visit an organization where you have to ask different questions from the manager or administrative officer. • You have to make questioners before visiting the organization. • Questioners must be at least 20 in amount. • Every group must confirm their questioners from their lecturer before visiting to the organization. • After collecting the information each group has to make a report in a summarize form Dead Line for the Assignment: 20 FEB 2010

  4. Scope of the Lecture • Continuation of management functions: • planning • organizing • leading • controlling • staffing • Skills for the management. • Communication System • Productivity

  5. Management Function Continue….. Planning: in planning goals are set and paths are identified in order to achieve such goals in best way Planning is the ongoing process of developing the business' mission and objectives and determining how they will be accomplished. Planning includes tactics for accomplishing a specific goal.

  6. Management function continue… • Mission: • Mission tells about the purpose of the organization. • It also tells the reason of existence of the organization • It also gives an idea that what for our organization stands in the market. Objectives: • mostly objectives are short term focus

  7. Purpose of Planning: • Planning gives direction to the organization • Planning establishes a coordinated efforts • Planning reduces uncertainty • Planning reduces wasteful activities

Organizing: • Organizing is the process of allocating and arranging the resources so that we can achieve our goals efficiently. • It is process of establishing the internal organizational structure of the organization. • The focus is on division, coordination, and control of tasks and the flow of information within the organization. • e.g. Resources like multimedia, laptop etc in RANA University

Leading • Leading is the process of influencing others so that engage them in work behavior to reach organizational goals • Leading is influencing people's behavior through motivation, communication, group dynamics • The purpose of leading/directing is to channel the behavior of all personnel to accomplish the organization's mission and objectives while simultaneously helping them accomplish their own career objectives • In leading we mostly focus on the motivation • e.g. to provide rewards on the performance….

Staffing: • Staffing is implemented mostly in the Human Resource Management. • Staffing is filling and keeping filled with qualified people all positions in the business. • Staffing is the process of selecting the right person at right place and at the right time. • In staffing we mostly focus on the human resources. • Human Resource: The employees working in the organization is the resource of that organization. E.G. Recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating and compensating are the specific activities included in this function

Distribution of skills in Management Top level Management: Human skills = 50 % Technical Skills = 10 % Conceptual Skills =40 % Middle Level Management: Human skills = 50 % Technical Skills = 25 % Conceptual Skills =25 % First Level Management: Human skills = 50 % Technical Skills = 40 % Conceptual Skills =10 %

Communication System • Communicating is the process of exchanging the ideas, messages, information... • Communication is very important in organization. • Communication integrates the management functions. • Goals must be communicated with the lower employees with in the organization. • If there is a need of training for the employees, their hiring, firing, promotion etc so it is only possible through communication. • It is through communication system to link enterprise with its external environment • e.g. it is through communication to identify the needs and wants of the customer.

  14. Productivity • Productivity can be defined through formula as : output input • The more output you will get in using less input. • It leads two concepts: Effectivety Efficiency.
