General information Identification is a necessary condition for successful removal of an illegal migrant to the country or origin.
Ways of identification • Traditional methods based on cooperation with diplomatic posts: • in the country • in the neighboring countries (via Polish diplomatic posts in these countries) • Contactswiththeappriopriateauthoritiesincountries of origin
Means of evidence • expired passports of all types • personal ID • citizenship confirmation certificates • birth certificates • other official documents pointing a citizenship of a person • Databases • Fingerprints
Means of evidence • photocopies of any of the documents of previous list • driving licenses or photocopies thereof • company identity cards or photocopies thereof • statements by witnesses • statements made by the person concerned and language spoken by him or her, including by means of an official test result • any other document which may help to establish the nationality of the person concerned
Consular interviews Consular interviews are necessary when provided proofs are not sufficient to confirm foreigner’s identity.
Alternative methods of identification • Confirming on the basis of telephone interview (Gambia, Palestina, Somalia) • Confirming identity of third-country nationals to be returned by arranging interviews with language and culture experts: - from the countries of origin - from border and migration services (with Vietnam) - from the diplomatic posts (with India, Pakistan) • Strengthening cooperation among other countries (EU States, Frontex) in the area of confirming identity of the third-country nationals
