Objectives • To recognize prepositions and prepositional phrases and understand their functions in the sentences • To distinguish between prepositions and adverbs • To employ standard English usage in writing for audiences, including parts of speech
Review There are many other word classes, these are just the four basic
Prepositions! Links a noun or a pronoun with another word in a sentence. It is placed before a noun or pronoun.
Practice • Read the sentences on the following slides • Identify any common prepositions that you see
