  2. Habitat Most pythons live on ground. They usually stay near plants in their warm habitats. They rest in the shade. They hide as they wait there for their prey.

  3. Babies • Young pythons are about 18 to 24 inches.(46 to 61 cm) long when they hatch. • Young pythons must survive on their own.

  4. Predators • Adult pythons have few natural predators. • Crocodiles and eagles may eat young pythons.

  5. Appearance • Some pythons are among the longest snakes in the world. • Smooth, shiny scales cover a python’s body. • A python’s color depends on where they live. • Green tree python’s are bright yellow or red when the colors match the flowers in the trees where pythons live.

  6. Food • Pythons eat fish, lizards and a deer, wild pigs, frogs and rats, sheep and a goat.

  7. Special • Python’s are good swimmers. • They can even swim in the ocean.
