Beam properties • The beam flux is of the order of 105 per s cm2 thermal neutrons. • It comes from the reactor through a shutter with two opening positions: full open orSoller collimated. • The collimator in the shutter is made of Cd layers and has a 36’ divergence. • The beam is then monochromated by a composite Ge wafer monochromator, • and exits the shielding at 90 degrees through a 30’ GdSoller collimator inserted in a borated-polyethylene tube. • Two JJ X-Ray IB-C80-AIR slits with borated aluminum blades are placed before the sample position. (400), 2Å (511), 1.54Å Beam monitor / counts per second (711), 1.12Å (822), 0.94Å (911), 0.88Å Rotation Motor /steps Accessible wavelengths via rotation of the monochromator.
Electronics and software • The setup is motor controlled using both commercial and in-house software. • Current NIM Modules include: Canberra high voltage power supplies 3106D, Canberra preamplifiers 2006, Canberra amplifiers 2022, Canberra single channel analyzers 2030. • A MKS multi gas flow meter with a full scale of flow ranges (5 to 50000 sccm) and maximum inlet pressure of 10 bar is also available. • An in-house LabView program is used for detector count acquisition. A CAEN digitizer with software in development is used to acquire PHS. • A HDO4000 High Definition Oscilloscope from Teledyne Lecroy is also used.
