Fridge Solution. By: Hallie Boatright , Josh Seiden , Lauren Fitzmeyer , and Henry Menozzi. Before the Change. Fn = 22N. Fnet = .5NW. Fa = 8N. Ff = 7.5N. Starting to Move. Fg = 22N.

Fn= 22N Fnet= .5NW Fa= 8N Ff= 7.5N Starting to Move Fg= 22N These Forces are unbalanced because the Fnet is greater than 0 and it is accelerating because it is moving and a non-constant speed.
Fn= 22N Fnet= 0 Fa= 4.5N Ff= 4.5N Constant Speed Fg= 22N The brick is balanced because the Fnet is 0 and it is not accelerating because it is moving at a constant speed.
Our modification is a series of colored pencils, spaced out just enough so the frictionless platform that rolls over the pencils can get over without any stopping or falling over. • We eliminated the friction between the floor and the fridge by using pencils that roll easily. Modification
Fn= 22N Fnet= .5NW Fa= 1N Ff= .5N Starting to Move Fg= 22N These forces are unbalanced because the Fnet is greater than 0 and they are accelerating because the brick was just overcoming the static friction.
Fnet= 0 Fn= 22N Ff= .5N Fa= .5N Constant Speed Fg= 22N The forces are balanced because the Fnet is 0 and it is not accelerating because it is at a constant speed and the forces are balanced.
Yes, our modification was successful. We made our Fa go from 4.5N to about .1N. • The fridge rolled over 1 meter of colored pencils with ease. Was Our Modification Successful?
