The mission of the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community. To fulfill our mission we: • Source and acquire food and other products and distribute to needy people through charitable agencies or directly through programs; • Energize the community to get involved and support • hunger relief; • Conduct hunger education and awareness campaigns • and advocate for public policies that alleviate hunger. Our vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County.
The Charitable Food Assistance System How it works Over 1,000,000 Children, Seniors and Working Families at risk of going hungry in Los Angeles County Food Manufacturers Food Pantries USDA Soup Kitchens Feeding America . Donations are sorted and stored at the Foodbank Children’s Feeding Programs Supermarkets and Retailers Our fleet of trucks pick up donations Nearly 550 agencies with over 900 sites receive food from the Foodbank Those in need receive the food through pantries, soup kitchens and shelters and other agencies
Donating Food & Product to the Foodbank Food & Products come into the Foodbank in a number of ways: 1) Our fleet of trucks pick-up donations from donors throughout Los Angeles County 2) National food companies donate through Feeding America 3) Through Food Drives 4) ThroughUnited States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
The Foodbank Needs Volunteers to Help Fight Hunger Volunteers help in many ways at the Foodbank. • By inspecting and sorting donated food 2) By creating food kits for seniors and children • By helping with food drives, special events and serving on the Board of Directors
