Engage Your Core With Our West Brompton Pilates
Often, we are well aware that we have to do something with our lives - with our health. We all want to be healthy. We practice self-care of our own volition. We love to destress. We love walking along the trails of Westminster and admiring the view. We love speaking our minds or watching someone speak theirs in Hyde Park. Or even dine in Jak's just because they're a classic.
However, we get demotivated exercising because we think of exercising as something tiring- a chore that needs to be done. Exercise to relax. That's what Pilates is all about. And we, from La Dolce Studio, will help you with that. Talk to us.
How Does Pilates Work? Pilates, being inspired heavily from callisthenics, yoga, and even ballet, involves engaging your core through movements that stretch all of your major muscles in a more balanced approach. You must engage your core and find your centre point through intense concentration, while also focusing on controlling your body's rhythm and breathing. It is not for the faint of heart.
Not to mention that it is a beneficial method of relaxation and rehabilitation because it promotes a greater sense of well-being and calm. And, because it focuses on core strength, it improves overall fitness by focusing on posture, balance, and flexibility—similar to yoga—in a fun and effective way.
Once you've set up your gym mat and gotten your body warmed up, you'll be ready to perform a sequence of movements that will be performed in a specified order. You will come across moves like "The Swan," "The Elephant," "Criss Cross," and many others that will not only help you strengthen your core and muscles, but may also assist you in losing weight. However, it is not the type of workout that causes you to break a sweat all of the time or that requires you to take 15-second rest intervals to catch your breath. Your muscles will never be overworked to the point of exhaustion. But as it uses your core and requires your complete focus, precision, and control to do, you will undoubtedly feel it in your body.
What Areas Do I Work Out With Pilates? While it has been emphasised multiple times that Pilates is all about strengthening and engaging the core, it is more than just that. The core is our centre point-- starting just below the rib cage until the spot right above the hips and joints and the base of the buttocks. Hence, it includes your abdominals and back. All the muscles in this area get worked out. More specifically, it targets the following areas:
Abs Core workouts are equal to abs workouts. That has always been the rule. And while Pilates isn't a high-intensity workout, it gives its practitioner better internal core strength.
Back Of course, if the front gets worked out (abs), the back does too. You save yourself from the plague of slouching and a lot of back problems as pilates works out the muscles that protect your spine.
Hips and Pelvis A weak core means a bad spine; a bad spine means slouching, and slouching means more stress for your pelvis and hips. Thus, working out one's core does wonders to your back and the area beneath it--the hips and pelvic area.
Glutes Of course, with the pelvic area comes the glutes. And sometimes, we take our glutes for granted. These are not only to give you a thick butt but also to give you a strong one--which you really need.
