  3. Financial Aid & FAFSA • Graduating seniors, you can still apply for FAFSA after March 2 if you plan to attend community college. • You are applying to receive financial aid for 2011-2012.

  4. Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov FAFSA

  5. Before you start filling out your FAFSA online, get a PIN (personal identification number). • Go to www.pin.ed.gov. • Get a PIN for yourself, and ask one of your parents to get one. • This lets you sign your FAFSA electronically. Get a PIN

  6. Your Social Security Number, and your parents’ Social Security Numbers. • Date of birth for you and for your parents (month, day, year). • Month and year your parents were married, or divorced. • Your driver’s license number, if you have one. • Your Alien Registration Number, if you are not a U.S. citizen. • 2010 Federal tax information--tax returns for yourself (if you worked in 2010) and for your parents. US Tax Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ. Information you need to fill out FAFSA

Mr. Othel Britton was a shop teacher at Raymond Cree Middle School for 30 years. • Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to selected students who have at least a 2.5 GPA, recommendations from two teachers, better than average attendance record, financial need, and are U.S. citizens. • DHSHS Scholarship Applications have been submitted. Work Study or Student Employment Programs let you earn money for college in a job on or off campus. Loans are borrowed money that you must repay, usually with interest. Grants are money you don’t have to pay back and are usually based on financial need.

  27. Present yourself well. Neatness counts. • Check your spelling on everything. • Be sure your name is on each page. • Submit all requested information, and submit it on time. • Be prepared to go to the post office for postage and to mail your own entries. Suggestions for success……

Try: www.cappex.com www.fastweb.com www.hsf.net www.MeritAid.com www.SchoolSoup.com www.StudentScholarships.org Google scholarships for your own situation, such as “AB-540 Scholarships” or “Scholarships for Twins” or “Scholarships for Musicians” or “Scholarships for Writers.” Be sure to keep a list of all user names and passwords you use.
