  1. 5 Basic Brush Strokes for Beginners

  2. 1. Gradient Blending: Blending two or more colors to get a gradient. The transition between colors should be smooth. Gradually create an overall change of color. 2. Wet into Wet: The base color is painted on a sheet of paper. Another color is used to draw uniform patters on it. The two colors merge at the boundary.

  3. 3. Scumbling: Dip your brush in the paint bottle. Strain it on your canvas so that the bristles begin to spread. Then rotate the brush slightly to create a blotched effect. 4. Optical Color Mixing: Use a combination of two or more contrasting colors. Draw similar patterns on canvas in different colors. Use a round bristled brush for this technique.

  4. 5. Smudging: Blot a piece of paper with some color. Then smudge it with a round brush. This creates a clouded effect.

  5. Conclusion These basic strokes can be improvised further individually depending on your proficiency and finesse as an artist. So, get yourself a piece of paper, some of your favourite colors and stroke things up. Happy Learning!
