Strategic Planning Teams Mission and Vision Purpose: Review and assess the current vision and mission statements Members: Donna Schoenfeld (chair), Cheytaya Brown, Margaret Cook, Kathie Coulter, Becky Harlow, John Jones, Mary Myers & Kevin Wenberg Recommendation submitted in January 2009; focus on building community

Strategic Planning Teams Challenges and Influences Purpose: Analyze local, regional, state, national and international influences to determine relevant challenges and issues facing Student Affairs and higher education Members: Angie Dreessen (chair), James Brunson, Georgia Harris, Dave LaBanc, Matt Lewis, Desiree Matel-Anderson, Brooke Ruxton, Sharon Schimmoler, Lisa Schmidt, Janet Smith, Kelly Wesener Report & recommendations completed March 2009

  10. Strategic Planning Teams Strategic Planning Forum Purpose: Meet with students and other stakeholders to discuss what the future of Student Affairs should look like. Members: Holly Holliday-Jones (chair), Cindy Henderson, Ebony Johnson, Scott Peska, Emily Prieto, Lisa Schmidt Forum conducted February 20, 2009; Report submitted March 2009

Strategic Planning Teams Goals and Objectives Purpose: Compile and review data and reports from all Strategic Planning Teams and external resources to create common goals Members: Brandi Hephner LaBanc (chair), Michelle Bringas, Amy Franklin, Don Henderson, Linda Hermann, Mary Myers, Jen Oliver, Michael Stang, Melissa Folowell-Vargas, Melissa Williams & Ashlea Wilson Work still in progress

  12. Strategic Planning Teams Design and Marketing Purpose: Design document for updated vision, mission, reports, goals and Student Affairs information. Create marketing plan to communicate the strategic plan. Members: Yuma Nakada (chair), Jill Dunlap, Megan Gerken, Joshua Johnson, Becky Lewis, Jarvis Purnell, Tracey Ward Work still in progress

Relevant Vocabulary Strategic Plan FY 2005-2010 • Divisional Goals • Objectives • Key Performance Indicators Strategic Plan FY 2011-2015 • Divisional Goals • Strategic Priorities (2 priorities per department that will be accomplished over the 5 year period; one priority is COP-wide and relates to a specific goal; second priority is department-specific and may relate to any goal) • Measurable Outcomes (determined by the department/COP as a direct measurement of related priority)

Relevant Vocabulary What are the differences between Divisional Goals, Strategic Priorities, and Annual Priorities? • Divisional Goal: Student Affairs has created 5 overarching goals that will guide the Division for the next 5 years (FY2011-FY1015) • Strategic Priority: Each department will have 2 strategic priorities (one COP-based & one department-specific) that will appropriately align with Divisional Goals; these strategic priorities will remain consistent over a span of 5 years; measureable outcomes related to the priority will be reported. • Annual Priority: In addition to the two, on-going strategic priorities departments will be asked to develop two annual priorities with related measurable outcomes.

Where are we headed next? • Community of Practice meetings (led by your AVP) • You will hear from your AVP/Director within a week’s time related to the scheduling of this meeting. • These are open to all that want to attend & contribute; some individuals will be expected to attend. Outcomes for these meetings: • Answer your questions • Discuss COP specific goal & possible priority candidates • Identify strategies to continue dialogue and build synergy • Share time lines & related deadlines

  16. Where are we headed next? • Department-based planning/conversations • Speak up and let your Director know if you have an interest in getting involved. • This is an opportunity to bring ideas and aspirations to life! • Individual participation & involvement highly encouraged!

  17. Time Line COP/Department Meetings: From now until June 19, 2009 Proposed strategic priorities are due June 20, 2009 to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Final plan will be unveiled at the 2009 State of the Division program on October 1, 2009.
