interrogation An interrogation is a long period of intense questioning to get information from someone. The thief was taken to the police station for interrogation about other robberies in the neighborhood.
stern Someone who is stern is very serious and strict. Belita’s aunt is very stern about making visitors take off their shoes before entering her house.
accusing When you look at someone in an accusing way, you are showing that you think he or she has done something wrong. The judge gave Victor an accusing look when he thought Victor was guilty.
solemnly When you say something solemnly, you say it in a very serious way. Mrs. Pressman spoke solemnly as she told the students about their classmate’s accident.
cringed If you cringed, you moved or flinched slightly because of discomfort or fear. Latisha cringed when the dentist started drilling one of her teeth.
craned If you craned your neck, you stretched it to let you see or hear something better. When the concert started, Akio craned his neck to better see the performers.
