Metodický list DUM seznamuje studenty se základními informacemi o rodinných svátcích, jak se slaví v anglicky mluvících zemích, zejména ve Velké Británii a USA. DUM je zpracován formou prezentace a procvičuje získané vědomosti pomocí cvičení v závěru prezentace. Součástí DUM je i řešení cvičení. Inovativnost materiálu spočívá ve využití ICT techniky. Tea Party • It is only in the English speaking countries. • It is a formal meeting. • It is usually organized for women. • The host serves tea, hot chocolate, sandwiches or obr. 2 biscuits.
Showers • It is a party organized for a bride-to-be or a mother-to-be. • Guests bring gifts. • People play themed games. obr. 3
Stag Night • It is also called Bachelor Party. • Only men take part. • It is held for a groom before he gets married. • His friends celebrate his last night of freedom. • They usually go for a weekend to Prague, Amsterdam or Budapest.
Hen Night • It is also called Bachelorette Party. • Usually bridesmaids are invited to the party. • It is held for a bride before she gets married. • They play drinking games and usually get drunk. • It is common to invite a male stripper. obr. 4
Wedding Traditionsobr. 5 • A bride wears a white wedding dress – the symbol of innocence. • The wedding ring – the circle means eternity and neverending love. • The wedding cake is a symbol of fertility. • The wedding veil – the tradition dates back to times of arranged marriages when the groom could not see the bride´s face before the ceremony.
A bride should wear something old (it means past), something new (the symbol of a new life), something borrowed (the symbol of necessity of the family) and something blue (the blue colour is a symbol of faithfulness). Throwing rice is a symbol of fertility and prosperity. Tossing the bouquet – the woman who catches it obr. 6 is the next one to get married. A kiss – a symbol of a new union.
Housewarming Party • It is held when somebody moves into a new house or flat. • The owners show their house or flat to their friends and relatives. • It is an informal party. • Guests bring presents for the household. obr. 7
