  2. General Music Schedule • Grades K-4 all receive general music 2 x’s a week • All instrumental students also get general music • General Music Teacher does not have any daily duties • T teaches five to seven 40 minute classes per day, plus has a 45 minute lunch and a 40 minute prep.

  8. Materials and Methodology • Orff/ Kodaly/ Dalcroze based methodology • Various folk dance, and folk song collections • Orff: Music for Children, volume 1, pentatonic, by Margaret Murray, Gunild Keetman, and Carl Orff

  9. Performing Ensembles • Orff Ensemble (4th G only): practices before school 1x per week • Recorder Ensemble (4th G only): practices after school 1x per week • 1 evening spring concert including all elementary 3rd and 4th grade string students. •  No chorus at Cheltenham Elementary, but the other 3 Elementary Schools have choruses. Principal not supportive.

  10. Instrument Lessons= Violin Lessons • 3rd and 4th graders can take violin only. • Their lesson is 40 minutes, once a week, and they are pulled during “core extension”, where students are able to go to special activities.
