Jesus Is Both Savior and Lord • As savior, Jesus has provided His perfect sacrifice for our sins • As Lord, the Father has given Him all authority after His resurrection from the dead and ascension to Heaven • Evidence of miracles, prophecies and apostolic eye-witness testimony prove He is both savior and Lord

  3. Evidence For Jesus Being Both Savior and Lord • Mat 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. • Mat 26:32 "But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee."

  4. Evidence For Jesus Being Both Savior and Lord • Act 2:22 "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know--

Evidence For Jesus Being Both Savior and Lord • Act 2:23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. • Act 2:24 "But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

Evidence For Jesus Being Both Savior and Lord • Act 2:32 "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. • Act 2:33 "Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.

  8. Obeying Jesus As Savior and Lord • To become a Christian, we must respond by obedient faith to Jesus as Savior and Lord • To accept Him as savior and not Lord will be in vain • To remain as faithful Christians, we must continue to obey Him as savior and Lord

Obeying Jesus As Savior and Lord • Act 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. • Act 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Following Jesus’ Example • Christians are called to follow Jesus’ example, His attitudes and behavior • Like the Jews who claimed to follow God while becoming unlike Him in character, we too can claim to follow Jesus and be unlike Him in character • We must obey the apostles’ teaching including becoming like Jesus in our character

Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Mat 10:24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. • Mat 10:25 "It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!

Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Mar 10:43 "But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; • Mar 10:44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. • Mar 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

  13. Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Luk 6:40 "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.

Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Luk 9:22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day." • Luk 9:23 And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

  15. Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Joh 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. • Joh 13:35 "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

  16. Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Joh 17:16 "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. • Joh 17:17 "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.

Jesus Commanded His Disciples To Become Like Him • Joh 17:20 "I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; • Joh 17:21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • Rom 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; • 2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • 1Co 4:16 Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. • 1Co 4:17 For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church. • 1Co 11:1 Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.

Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • 2Co 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; • 2Co 5:15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

  21. Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • Gal 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

  22. Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; • Eph 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • Php 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, • Php 2:6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, • Php 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.

But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. • 1Pe 2:21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,

  27. Apostles Command Christians To Become Like Jesus • 1Pe 2:22 WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; • 1Pe 2:23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;

  28. Jesus Our Savior Lord and Example • “…leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,” • Humble obedient self-denying servant • Depended on the Father through prayer • The greatest teacher • His love mercy and compassion • Endured suffering while trusting the Father
