Jackie Robinson went to John Muir High School and Pasadena Junior College, where he started playing sports. He played four sports: baseball, basketball, football and ran track. In 1944 he was discharged from the army. He then tried playing his old school sport, baseball!
Jackie was borne on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia and died October 24, 1972. • He was married to Rachel Issum in February of 1946. • He had three children JJ, Sharon and David. JJ died in 1971. • He had a college education from UCLA. • He was drafted to the Dodgers For a total of nine years before retiring.
Jackie Robinson was the first MLB player to appear on a postage stamp. • He was the first African American baseball player. He was also the first black hall of famer in the MLB. • He held the National League record for stolen basses and batting average. • Mack ( Robinson’s older brother) finished second next to Jesse Owens in the 100- meter dash in the Berlin Olympics.
