Materials What you need: • Small but deep cylinder sink • Pipe • Garden(with plants in it) • Stopper to put in the end of the pipe • Drill and drill bit (to make a hole in the sink) • Glue • Drippers for the pipe
How to make the Garden Soaker Steps • Drill a hole in the top of the sink between the other two sinks • Insert a small deep cylinder sink • Drill a hole in the bottom of the cylinder sink that matches the size of the pipe. • Connect thepipe to the hole in your sink and seal it well with glue. • Lead the pipe to the wall and drill a hole in the wall the size of the pipe. • Run the pipe outside.(seal around the pipe and the wall so mice can’t get in) • Put the drippers into the pipe. • Lay the pipe above your garden bed. • Put the stopper at the end of the pipe.
Understanding – How the device works. We waste water when we have to wait for hot water to come through, to fill the sink to wash dishes. We also waste water when we don’t finish our water bottles or our glasses of water. Now mum puts all of that water into a jug and pours it on the garden. The Garden Soaker allows this water to go directly to our plants by: • The swivel tap is placed over the extra sink hole while the cold water runs through. • Also we pour our extra water from our drink-bottles/glasses into the sink hole. From here the water goes through the pipes to the garden plants such as: tomatoes, strawberries or flowers.
