  4. Education in Tanzania In Tanzania, in government primary schools all lessons are taught in Swahili. However, at secondary school all lessons are taught in English. Many pupils progress is slowed when they go to secondary school due to their lack of English knowledge and confidence. In Tanzania now there are some English Medium Primary Schools these teach all lessons in English. When their pupils go to secondary school they can continue to make good progress because they have a strong foundation in English. Many parents in Tanzania are realising the need for a good education now and many aspire for their children to be fluent in English.

  5. Our pupils

  6. How is our school different from other English schools in Tanzania? We believe a good quality English education is for all, not just the rich. Currently the majority of our pupils are orphans and poor children we are succeeding in giving them the same opportunities as those from privileged families. We are seeing these children out perform their peers in government schools. We are seeing these children on their way to securing the best jobs in Tanzania and happy futures because of their good start in life.

  9. Our new library It is full of random books volunteers have brought over the years-many maths revision books, a few story books and some fact books on animals. Regardless, the children love to read.

  12. We have few resources but the ones we do have the children love

  13. Our needs: we need more chairs and tables.

  14. Our needs-2 classrooms need finishingand another 2 classrooms need to be built

  16. Pre-form One-a pre secondary course in English for pupils from government schools.

  17. We need to purchase 10 desktop computers so we can add ICT to our timetable

  18. We started off with 10 pre form one students now we have 35! Due to offering computer classes!

  19. Our vision: In January we want to open a Special Needs class. But to do that we need sponsorship for a teacher for them as these children come from families unable to pay fees.

  20. Our vision: In December we will advertise our school in the neighbouring villages and towns. In January, many more pupils will join our school due to our results and now we can offer a bus service to pick them up. The fees these pupils pay will help us in covering the costs of our current teachers.

  21. Our vision: Ultimately we just want to be self-sustaining. We want to be able to just cover the costs of our teachers and to be able to continue to give an education to those children who are unable to pay fees.

  22. If you would like to partner with us and help us to move our school forward. We are able to offer skype sessions with our pupils and regular updates on our progress. Natalie Norris (our teacher from Canterbury Christ Church University), is co-ordinating skype sessions. Email us at mwikaintegrityschool@yahoo.com to organise this.
