  3. What is the purpose? • The purpose is to get people to buy Tide laundry detergent because it can get ANY stain out.

  4. Who is the intended audience?

  5. Who is the intended audience? • The intended audience for this advertisement would be anyone who does laundry.

  6. What is the technique?

  7. What is the technique? • The technique of this advertisement is: • Two frozen faces coming out of a spilled drink and a blue and white plaid shirt. • There is an egg, bacon, and some pop tarts in the background. • At the bottom in flowing letters it says “because stains love your clothes” with the Tide symbol next to it. This describes the picture because of the two faces leaning in for a kiss like lovers but instead it’s just a stain and a shirt. • The use of the bright colors draws your attention to the stain and the shirt. • There is a Tide symbol at the bottom of the screen. It is a bulls eye symbol with yellow and orange rings then a white center that has the word “Tide” in the center.

  11. Ethos • Tide is a very well-known laundry detergent, lots of people use it and it is known to get the job done. • The Tide symbol at the bottom right of the screen helps us to know that it’s a Tide advertisement.

  13. Pathos • There is not an appeal to pathos.

  15. Logos • It is logical to use tide in order to get rid of unwanted stains.
