PROACTIVE: CLS FOCUS • Connected to priority of expedited allied health training • Great sense of urgency • Action steps: • Media Advocacy (mid-late January 2012) • Institutional Policy Advocacy (late January through March 2012) • Legislative Policy Advocacy (TBD, possibly February and March 2012)
PROACTIVE: CLS MEDIA ADVOCACY • Create greater awareness • Demonstrate importance • Showcase narratives that lead to action • Quality of care • Jobs
PROACTIVE: CHPC/CHWA ACTIONS • Provide local examples, such as spokespeople including: • Health care workers and administrators who can point to the need • Educators who are training students and placing people in jobs • Students who have experienced challenges • Share data such as: • Research demonstrating integral role of CLS • Data showing number of CLS jobs available but going unfilled • Serve as spokespeople and authors for: • Local media outreach efforts • Op-eds and letters to the editor • Social media that creates an echo chamber
