  5. We will actually be talking about… The Passive Voice vs The Active Voice

  6. Active Voice When the subject is the doer of action, the verb is in the active voice. An active verb sends its action forward to the object

  7. Let’s take a look at some examples…

  8. The ninja sliced the fruit. umm..tried to…

  9. Fans surrounded the singer.

  10. Pandas live in the beautiful wilderness.

  11. That’s the Active Voice! Any questionz?

  13. Passive Voice When subject receives the action, the verb is in the passive voice. A passive verb sends its action back to the subject

  14. Let’s take a look at some examples…

  15. The poor soul was surrounded by Zombies.

  16. The tree was struck by lightning.

  17. An A+ was given to Sam by Mr. T.

  18. Take a look at these sentences. What voice are they using? Active or Passive?

  19. Passive The tree was struck by lightning. Passive The letter was mailed by Ms.Morgan. Passive The car was jumped over by Nate. Passive The World record was broken by Mr.T.

  20. Let’s try and change those “Passive” sentences” into sentences using the Active Voice!!!

  21. The tree was struck by lightning. Lightning struck the tree. Active! The letter was mailed by Ms.Morgan. Ms. Morgan mailed the letter. Active! The car was jumped over by Nate. Nate jumped over the car. Active! The World record was broken by Mr.T. Mr. T broke the World Record! Active!

  22. In general, always try to use the Active Voice!!!
