What actions can we take to achieve these objectives? • Waste and rubbish reduction • Reduce litter in the streetscape • Enable and encourage re-use of resources and household goods eg systems and behaviour change to repair instead of replace • Reduce the amount of household waste • Encourage the reuse / utilisation of green waste and organic waste • Utilising public spaces and facilities • Create and utilise public spaces with vibrancy, colour and opportunities to meet, eg cafes, open spaces, ‘village square’, parkland, community spaces. • Create a physical connection between different precincts of Morisset • Establish an environmental and community resource centre or hub to access information, demonstrations, education and resources • Pedestrian and cycle friendly neighbourhood—footpaths, off-road cycle paths, street lighting, curb and gutters, and pleasant, safe walking connections • Protecting our natural environment • Ensure healthy biodiversity • Reinvigorate a Morisset Landcare group • Maintain and enhance Morisset’s bushland atmosphere • Reduce the number and impact of Indian Mynas • Encouraging individual and household actions • Encourage households and businesses to use solar power (solar hot water and solar photovoltaic panels) • Encourage households, businesses and industry to use less energy • Encourage households, businesses and industry to utilise rainwater tanks • Encourage sustainable housing design • Encouraging a vibrant, connected, and active community • Increase active citizenship (community participation, education, volunteering and activism), and connect people to each other
