  3. Surface & Climate • Surface – rangy, with high mountains (High Tatras) - Gerlach Peak (2655 m) • Climate – the coldest and rainiest • Zone – northern mild (4 seasons)

  4. National Parks • TANAP (glacial lakes) • PIENAP • Poloniny • Part of NAPANT • 2 protected landscape areas (Eastern Carpathians, Vihorlat)

  5. TANAP • Varied nature • 175 glacial lakes (plesá), waterfalls • Flora: spruce forests, scrub, edelweiss • Fauna: brown bear, lynx, izard(endemit), deer, wolf, woodpecker, eagle

  6. NAPANT • Biggest • Karst area, caves • Ďumbier • Flora: maple, spruce, beech, aster, violet • Fauna: trout, salamander, viper

  7. PIENAP • Three Crowns • Breakthrough of Dunajec – the biggest canyon in middle Europe • In Dunajec – 20 types of fish • Fauna: otter, beaver, bear, lynx, eagle-owl, falcon • Flora: endemits • The Red Monastery
